Vernon’s city council has expedited zoning approvals for a massive luxury hotel and spa adjacent to the Predator Ridge Golf Course and Resort in the Okanagan, one of British Columbia’s major tourism regions. The combination hotel and wellness centre is being developed by an Austrian consortium that includes the makers of Swarovski Crystal.
As well as providing mud and imported mineral water treatments, the unique 150 room spa-hotel will also be a convention centre,and as a major destination resort, will attract Europeans and US tourists. The city welcomes the development and has gone out of its way to facilitate the regulatory process.
Vernon was chosen by the consortium as the site for their “flagship resort centre”
after a five year worldwide search. The complex is scheduled to open in 2005,
with a second 150 room phase to be added in the future.
